CTA Honors Takna Jigme Sangpo(In Tibetan)


The Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) based in Dharamsala, North India honored Takna Jigme Sangpo, the longest serving political prisoner of Tibet on January 23, 2014.

Takna Jigme Sangpo is a 86 year old man, who was initially arrested in 1960 with the allegation that he was corrupting minds of children with reactionary ideas while teaching at the Lhasa Primary School.

After a series of arrests and probation, he was finally released on medical parole after efforts made by the CTA and international community at the age of 76 on March 31, 2002.
