This year marks the 40th anniversary of the start of the upheaval instigated by then-leader Mao Zedong, in which millions of people were persecuted. China's Cultural Revolution left one of the most destructive legacies in Tibetan history. Thousands of monasteries, along with vast volumes of Tibetan literature, were destroyed. This week's Tibetan TV call-in show will revisit and reflect on this dark chapter in Tibetan history. Mr. Tsering Wangchuk, a student in Tibet during this traumatic era, will join us by phone from India. The show will also feature a series of rare historical photos on Tibet during the Cultural Revolution. These images have never been broadcast on television before.
