The minister of Information and International relations (DIIR) of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) based in Dharamsala, northern India submitted her resignation on February 27, 2016.
Kalon Dicki Chhoyang addressed VOA and other media services in front of the Library of Tibetan Works & Archives in Gangchen Kyishong that she has formally submitted her resignation to the current Prime Minister, Dr. Lobsang Sangay.
The statement read, 'With a sad heart, I resigned today as Kalon for the Department of Information and International Relations for the Central Tibetan Administration. My decision was made with careful deliberation, bearing in mind our collective interest and the significant challenged that lie ahead. It has been a tremendous honor to serve the Tibetan people as Kalon. With prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, may His wishes as well as the aspirations of our brothers and sisters in Tibet be fulfilled.'
She further added that the reasons for her resignation would be provided in detail, in the near future.

DIIR Kalon Resigns With A Sad Heart
A press conference was held the following day, where the present head of the Tibetan Administration in Exile, Lobsang Sangay responded to the resignation of a minister of his cabinet.
Sangay says that the DIIR kalon has resigned to participate in public debates of the ongoing Tibetan general election since the rules of Election Commission(EC) of CTA does not allow incumbent Kalon to participate in election activities.
