Kunsang Dolma interviews Geshe Lobsang Dawa, author of Buddhism Related Q & A, who says that the Praise to Buddha Shakyamuni is recited at the beginning of teachings, meditations and prayer sessions, and that contemplating its meaning is a powerful means of increasing one’s faith and refuge in Buddha. Geshe Dawa says that in general, "Buddha" means "Awakened One" - someone who has awakened from the sleep of ignorance and sees things as they really are, a being who is completely free from all faults and mental obstructions. Gehse La tells VOA that every living being has the potential to become a Buddha.
