Geshe Lobsang Dawa, teacher at Buddhist school of dialectics in Dharamsala in India talks about the importance and benefits of practicing Bodhichitta. 'Bodhi' is a Sanskrit for Enlightenment and 'Citta' means the Mind. It refers to the wish to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all sentient beings. Geshe Dawa-la says that to be a Mahayana Buddhist practitioner, one should not be self-centered, and instead practice altruism.
