Dalai Lama Leaves for Jispa & Manali


The Tibetan spiritual leader Dalai Lama left for Kullu, Jispa and Manali in his home state of Himachal Pradesh Monday morning for a six day religious teaching.

Chimme Choekyappa, private secretary to the Dalai Lama said the Tibetan leader will first visit Dagpo Shedupling Gompa in Kullu. He is scheduled to visit Jispa, a village in Lahaul and Spiti district where he will teach on Atisha’s Lamp for the Path to Enlightenment (jangchup lamdron). The Dalai Lama will confer the Heruka (dechok) initiation on August 19 in Jispa. He will also confer the Avalokiteshvera (chenresig) the following day.

The Tibetan leader will give a teaching on Gyalsey Thokme Sangpo's 37 Practices of A Boddhisattva (Gyalsey laklen sodunma) in Manali on 22 August. The Dalai Lama is scheduled to return to his hometown Dharamsala on 23 August.
