Capital area regional Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC) observed one day hunger strike in solidarity with the three Tibetan Youth Congress activists, who are on an indefinite hunger strike in New Delhi to protest China’s ongoing lockdown of Kirti Monastery and clampdown in Ngaba county.
Dhondup Lhadar, Konchok Yangphel and Tenzin Norsang, who are executive members of the Tibetan Youth Congress, sat on the indefinite hunger strike on April 25, 2011. The hunger strikers-now on their 22nd day- are demanding immediate withdrawal of the Chinese troops from the monastery and release of political prisoners.
"In support of their demands, we have organized a one-day hunger strike in front of the White House. We are distributing pamphlets about the ongoing situation in Tibet's Amdo Ngaba and Kirti monks," said Tenzin Lhamo, vice president of the capital area TYC.
