Kunleng Tibetan TV: Tibet Olympic Protest

Real Player Windows Media

As the 2008 Olympic Games approach, international attention is being called to China’s record on everything from domestic human rights to its role in Darfur. The Chinese government’s recent decision to have the Olympic torch run through Tibet and Taiwan has brought a new spotlight to the controversial choice of Beijing as host of the 2008 Games.

Tibetan rights group says Chinese authorities have detained four U.S. citizens at the base of Mount Everest, where they were demonstrating for Tibet's independence and protesting the 2008 Olympics in China.

Students for a Free Tibet says the four -- including a Tibetan American -- unfurled a banner that read "One World, One Dream, Free Tibet 2008."

"One World, One Dream" is the slogan of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Beijing officials want to take the Olympic torch up Mount Everest, the world's tallest mountain, which has one side in Tibet.

This week on Kunleng, we invite a diverse group of commentators to discuss the issue of Tibet and the Beijing Olympics.
