Chinese authorities have dismantled satellite dishes to disable foreign radio and TV broadcasts in Labrang, Amdo.
Earlier in January, Chinese authorities confiscated televisions from 300 monasteries in a heavily Tibetan part of the west of the country and dismantled satellite equipment in the region.
According to a speech given by the local Communist Party secretary in January, the move is part of a government effort to stop Tibetans from viewing and listening to foreign broadcasts, which he claimed may be responsible for encouraging some of the security lapses in the recent past.
